What I use my phone for:

  • Creating this blog 
  • Taking photos (complete with GPS tags so I know where I was in the world and auto backup to ‘the cloud’) 
  • Language translation (very helpful when talking to hotel receptionists) 
  • Finding recommended places to visit 
  • Finding recommended places to eat 
  • All hostel/hotel/flight booking 
  • Navigation to any of these places using offline maps
  • Listening to music 
  • Who wants to be millionaire game (to make me feel really inferior and stupid)
  • FaceTime with family 
  • Monitoring money with travelx supercard app (genius)
  • Getting safe cabs with uber (Colombia only) 
  • Monitoring the falling sterling value 
  • Keeping in contact with friends on Facebook 
  • Learning Spanish phrases using teach yourself Spanish app
  • Jotting down notes for various bits and bobs 
  • Keeping an eye on the news 
  • Watching the F1 results and video highlights 

What I don’t use my phone for:

  • Phoning people 
  • Sending an SMS text message 

Should I still call it a phone?
